The 5 Year Plan

When I found out I was pregnant with Zane I immediately entered into the "5 yr plan". We have 5 years until we need to be in a good neighborhood with good schools and be at a stable place in our lives.

It's kind of like you are a parent but you are free to do whatever you want with your kid until they are 5. You can get them into most places free, they only go to daycare because you have to work or because you chose to take them there. It's more about you and your life and they are just along for the ride.

BUT...when they turn 5, things change. They start Kindergarten. If you don't take them to school it's against the law! They are full price for almost everything. They know how the world works. You can't just make up stuff as you go along anymore. They remember what happened last year for Christmas and what they got and have expectations for next year. They have opinions about everything. You can't just dress them in the style you want. They have their own style and tastes. As it turns out Zane was on a 5 year plan too. He's not a baby at all anymore. He's a full fledged independent person.

So it's been 5 years.

Zane met his goal and so did we. We are officially done with the 5 yr plan and on to the 13 yr plan...saving for college!
